‘The Fake Prophet’, is a ground-breaking new Nollywood film, which has been made by the child rights charity, Stepping Stones Nigeria. It powerfully encapsulates many major child rights issues that the Nigerian child faces today. These include child witchcraft accusations, child trafficking and child abandonement.

The film has been produced by the leading Nollywood director, Teco Benson, and is an action packed tale of drama, suspense and intrigue. It aims to counter-balance some of the other Nollywood films which have exacerbated the belief in child witches and subsequently encouraged the abuse and abandonement of innocent children.

We hope that the film will stimulate debate about the belief in so-called child witches and the high rates of child trafficking that prevail in many parts of Nigeria. Through doing this we expect that it will significantly support our efforts to challenge such abusive practices and uphold the rights of children in Nigeria and beyond.

Stepping Stones Nigeria anticipates a huge reaction to ‘The Fake Prophet’and this event will provide you with a unique opportunity to preview the film before its global release. We look forward to seeing you there!

Entry to this event will be free but donations are welcome.
There will be a Q&A session with SSN’s Program Director, Gary Foxcroft.
